I have heard that non-diabetic hypoglycemia can be a problem at night while I am sleeping. What can I do to prevent this from happening?

    1. Mr. Peachy® Says:

Treating hypoglycemia is pretty much the same as treating type two diabetes. In other words, eat lots of healthy, natural foods with plenty of fiber and get plenty of daily exercise. The more refined foods you avoid, the better your chances of avoiding hypoglycemia (and diabetes, for that matter). Give your body the nourishment it needs, and it will serve you well for many, many years.

10 hours is a long time for the body to go without fuel….try eating a small snack before bed…about 15 grams of carbohydrate and some protein. if you are waking up in the night with the hypoglycemia, try eating then, too.

a glass of milk, or some crackers and peanut butter or some cheese on a slice of bread, or a handful of nutty trail mix are a good choice. the carbs give your body fast fuel, the protein helps it stretch out longer.

if you eat too much carb before bed with no protein, you are likely to just make non-diabetic hypoglycemia worse though, so keep that in mind before eating lots of pasta or desserts
