PPI Use Doesn’t Raise Colon Cancer Risk
You probably know that use of proton pump inhibitors (PPI) has always been closely linked with a condition called hypergastrinemia that eventually gets tied with colon cancer. So the latest findings on this have been negative. Yes, you can cheer the good news.
Based on findings from data analysis conducted by the General Practice Research Database in UK, it was established that exposure to a proton pump inhibitor for a period of say 5 years or more didn’t raise the risk of colon cancer that leads to colon cancer surgery at all.
A similar study that was based on Danish data by VA Medical Center in White River Junction, at Vermont, established the same fact that use of PPI didn’t heighten the risk of colon.
