Diagnosing Colon Carcinoma
The cancer of the colon can be treated without resorting to surgery if diagnosed in early stages. There are various ways to diagnose colon carcinoma. There is a physical examination that detects a palpation of the abdomen, liver, groin and supraclavicular. In some cases a rectal examination is recommended if the risk of a synchronous tumor is suspected.
There also are certain imaging techniques used for diagnosing like, colonoscopy, hepatic ultrasound and chest X-ray. They are sometimes followed by a CT scan.
While diagnosing the disease, the family history of the patient is also checked for any other cases of colon cancer in the family.
