Its all related to blood sugar control. If you have perfect control and have always had good control there is no difference in healing time. However if you have had poor control anytime then your immune system response can be slowed due to not getting what it needed at that point in time. I have had this happen after a surgery. I had high blood sugars, and it took me over a year to fully heal from it.

Everything the other answerers said is true, poor circulation, but the immune system is comprimised and you need a healthy immune system to fight the infections and bacteria that enter the wounds.

I do not have diabetes myself although my father was diagnosed about a year ago with type 2. And I know that it has something to do with the immunity system. What I do suggest is checking into vitamins and minerals. If you go to you can request free samples which consist of 2oz. liquid vtamins and mineras that tastes great and a couple of informationals cd (dr. speaking) and brochures and there is also another site where you can read some tesimonials that people have written with there experiece or you can even order a 30-day, empty-bottle money-back guarantee supply at :www.myvemma.com/naturalicous

Why minerals?

Minerals are amazing! They're amazing because even in infinitesimal amounts these nutrients can produce unexplainable, beneficial changes in body chemistry.* Minerals are nutrients required by the body to help facilitate a multitude of biochemical and physiologic processes necessary for the maintenance of life.* Some of these processes include supporting the health of organs, bones, tissue and the immune system.* Minerals, like vitamins, are not synthesized in our bodies; therefore we must acquire them from outside sources.

Due to sluggish/poor blood circulation...Just imagine the soldiers of your body and the nutrients needed for wound healing is getting traffic due to the viscosity of the blood...so before they reach the involved site..the infection is already spread and the microbes already multiplied..

because their circulation isn't as good coupled with possible nerve damage over time, they don't get their immune system to the site of their trauma as fast as healthy people do and so their ability to heal themselves isn't as good
