A Positive Outlook Helps Cancer Patients

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Having a positive outcome when being diagnosed with any type of cancer or illness depends entirely on how much, if any, the tumor has metastasized. If the cancer is dormant and has not begun to spread, your chances of survival and recovery are very good. The doctors would give this prognosis a stage 1 cancer reading meaning that the cancer is localized. A stage 2 or 3 form is more difficult to find a bone cancer cure for because the cancer has begun to spread. The severity of the metastasizing will depend greatly on which course of treatment you should continue with. If you have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the bone (or any other type of bone cancer for that matter), that means that the cancer has metastasized to many different parts of your body, making it extremely difficult, if not impossible to treat at all, leaving your survival rate or bone cancer cure slim to none.

Ways to Control Diabetes & Cholesterol

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

When you have diabetes & cholesterol, your diabetes tends to lower the good part of your cholesterol while raising your triglycerides, or bad cholesterol levels which can put you at a much greater risk for a stroke or serious heart disease. It is much harder to control cholesterol in a diabetic because of the insulin issues that diabetics deal with in which the bodies of diabetics are not able to respond to the insulin it produces efficiently. There are a few diabetic medications available today that may actually help to lower your cholesterol levels. You can also help keep your cholesterol level in check by having your cholesterol checked regularly, eating a diet low in trans fat, saturated fat and cholesterol, exercising regularly (at least 30 minutes for as many days of the week as you can, preferably 5 days or more a week). You can discuss with your doctor the best course of treatment for you to maintain a healthy lifestyle and help to manage both your cholesterol and diabetes together.

Silicone Filled Breast Implants from Natrelle - a Company You Can Trust

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

A study of almost 50,000 women over a time span of 10 years was conducted by scientists and researchers at the Natrelle Company. Their determination of the safeness and effectiveness of a Natrelle silicone filled breast implant was that it is perfectly safe based on the giant leaps that have been made towards making sure that these implants do not leak in any way. Of course, you always have the option of choosing a saline filled breast implant which carries no risk to your health if the implant were to somehow be punctured because saline is soluble and therefore will not leak foreign products into your body. You will need to have the empty saline implant sack removed and replaced however.

The Myths of Alcohol Addiction

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

There are so many myths associated with alcohol addiction which contributes to the lack of treatment and recovery for many people. Some think that alcoholics lack the will power to simply stop drinking. The brain is affected by drinking alcohol, which leads to a compulsion to drink. Denying that you have a problem simply because you do not drink for several days, yet consume large quantities over a weekend is a common symptom of alcohol abuse. Wine and beer may not be considered hard liquor, but both still have the same affect. Alcohol is a drug, and being addicted to it can lead to long-term illnesses.

Don’t Look at the Price of Rhinoplasty… Look at the Ability of the Surgeon

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

When you begin interviewing potential surgeons to perform your Rhinoplasty, it is very important to make sure that they are board certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgeons. You are perfectly within your right (and encouraged) to ask the surgeon if he has any malpractice suits against him at the time. You should go into your procedure feeling completely confident in your physician and his team. When you find the right plastic surgeon, you will then discuss several things such as the price of Rhinoplasty and what to expect before and after your procedure. He may at that time prescribe some medications to take for preventative precautions to ward off infection and prepare your body for the procedure.

What is a Cholesterol HDL Ratio?

Monday, April 6th, 2009

There are two types of cholesterol levels: the good and the bad. The good type is called the HDL (High Density Lipoproteins) which helps to keep the bad levels away from your arteries by transporting them down to your liver and disposing them out of your body. The bad levels are called LDL (Low Density Lipoproteins) that, when at a high level, causes massive build-up in the walls of the arteries leading up to your brain and heart, thus putting you at risk of many different kinds of heart disease such as congestive heart failure, heart attack and stroke. It is very important to maintain a good balance of cholesterol proteins and this can be done by making sure that the cholesterol HDL ratio is a number less than 4. The average number is around 4.5, but a number reading less than 4 is ideal.
