Pancreatic Cancer: When Surgery is not an Option

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

When the diagnosis is pancreatic cancer, no one wants to hear that it is advanced unresectable or Inoperable Pancreatic Cancer. It is unfortunate that hardly any symptoms are detected in advance as so to prevent the spread of the disease. When the pancreatic cancer is inoperable, it can be treated through chemo or radiation, or possibly both. It all depends on the location of the cancer and the extent to which it has spread. A medical doctor can determine which is the best route to take. Without surgery, these methods of treatment are currently the patient’s best chance for survival. Survival rates will vary according the specifics of the cancer.
