Herniated Disc? Don’t Jump into Surgery

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Being diagnosed with a ruptured or herniated disc does not automatically mean that you will be needed spine surgery.  About 50% of patients with herniated discs in their lower backs tend to make a full recovery within one month.  Only about 10% of patients who suffer extreme lower pain consistently for over six weeks will surgery be discussed.  There are three different operations to consider when discussing spine surgery with your physician.  A Discectomy is the actual removal of the herniated disc material pressing on the nerve root; a Laminotomy relieves the disc pressure rather than removing anything; and a Percutaneous Discectomy is performed for bulging discs that have ruptured into the spinal canal.

Strengthening my nails at home

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

I have been on the market looking for a good product that I can use at home to strengthen my nails. In the past, I suffered from a nail infection that left my nails feeling dry and brittle. I want a product that I can use daily from home, preferably one that you can just brush right onto your nails. Of the nail strengtheners on the market, there seem to be a couple brands that people use most often. I am also wondering if there are any side effects. I have heard that overuse can lead to discoloration of my nails.
