Reasons why there is a need for Affordable health care
Saturday, June 7th, 2008Locating affordable health care for Americans is not as easy as it used to be. Now, even with pillow snoring stop will cost you a great deal. Many companies are now increasing the charges, for providing this service to their workers or cutting back on the level of cover. How do I know this, well because I am one of those people affected and despite a very good job, before 2006, the health care package at work was first rate. This was a shock to everyone; being told that the health care provider was going to be replaced because the cost was too great.
They said it was necessary if all their employees were to have the same level of health care. I am told that the new insurance package is still very good and I'm lucky to have it. I don't mind other workers benefiting but it costs me more now, almost twice as much more to have my family covered in the plan. This means, that for my company to provide a health plan to all of the employees, it is no longer affordable for us.
OK, so my health care is still respectable but the new company that we have is not as good as our previous. It's all very well making the excuse that you are searching for a more affordable health care alternative but it doesn't wash when you see reducing your income but also out of pocket expenses also. You see, my previous plan paid my entire hospital bill just over 3 years ago when I had my little boy. This new plan, under similar circumstances however, would personally cost me in excess of 5,000 dollars.
But, this doesn't include the additional amounts taken out of my paycheck, only the hospital costs. Affordable health care options are becoming more widely available because there is a desperate need for them. For workers in companies without health care plans and single mums for instance, this is a God send. In principle, these plans are a good thing but there are always those that misuse it making the situation difficult for genuine cases.
Perhaps some form of means testing is needed for people so that only genuine cases have the benefit of affordable health care. Taxpayers, such as me, are contributing to the vast number of programs currently available. It is true to say that my employer is very happy because he found distinct benefits to finding a different health plan program. Less take home pay was the result of my company's health provider switch with many of its workforce the ones seeing less money to take home for their families. Providing health care which is affordable for Americans needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later.
